Elliot Salem and Tyson Rios have been involved in quite a few shenanigans over the years. Dropping fully armored baddies and popping Maneki Nekos, all the while their friendship is left at the mercy of the player. Their calendars have been pretty clean since the 40th day, and now they’re returning, back-to-back, in Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel. Take a look at the official trailer here.
The trailer raises two big questions. Who’s the wannabe Jade lookalike? And what’s it going to take to drop that machete dude? Not sure I can answer the first question, but the second answer is obviously going to be engrained in the gameplay. Notice how he mercilessly kicked a grenade into his own teammate? Well, it seems like teamwork is going to be key in taking down jerks like him. Rios and Elliot will surely take him down with a little synchronized air guitar action. Or more likely in an Overkill fueled killing spree.
It looks like players are going to get to trade off driving and shooting, which is always a great way to play.
The trailer also shows that Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel is scheduled to be released on March 26th, 2013. This is only a few weeks over their 5th year anniversary. For as many fights as the duo gets into, they’ve stayed together longer than a lot of other video game couples. Also, three titles in five years is pretty impressive. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that The Devil’s Cartel improves on some of the series’ more frustrating aiming issues, and forces the player into situations that hold bigger, graver in-game choices.
Pre-ordering the game’s Overkill edition also grants access to some extra goodies, including a range of in-game armor and weaponry. After all, playable DLC is always a plus.Release date March 26th, 2013
